Scholarships available for textile artists in 2016/2017

08.06.2016

Þekkingarsetur will grant three two-month scholarships for selected textile artists from Baltic/Nordic countries participating in the residency program at the Icelandic Textile Center in 2016/2017.

The residency is based in Kvennaskólinn, the former Women's College in Blönduós. As such it features private rooms with shared living and open plan shared studios, a loom weaving loft, and a small gallery attached to a dye studio.

The scholarship program is valid from October 2016 – December 2017. We encourage applications from artists who work with both traditional and contemporary forms of textile and fiber arts, or whose artistic practices are intrinsically linked to the use of textiles. Scholarships include accommodation costs supported in full to the value of €2200, travelling cost up to €500, a one-year membership with Nordic Textile Art, a workshop grant, as well as a €1500 work stipend for the two-month stay. Terms and conditions apply.

The residency scholarship program is now open. Please apply via email to textilsetur.residency@simnet.is and attach a resumé describing your professional approach / working field, a short project description for your stay (including the preferred months of your stay), a community workshop description, and contact information.

Deadline to apply: August 25, 2016. Resident recipients will be notified via e-mail at the end of August. For further information, please contact the Þekkingarsetur office, tsb@tsb.is, or visit Textílsetur's website, www.textilsetur.com.

The 2016/2017 program is funded through the generosity of Nordic Culture Point.
